How to prepare for Christmas in Egypt?

I couldn't find out, what Saro or Saru for a plant is. Even my Egyptian friends didn't know. If you know, what Amir means ... Let me know, if you know more!

But we decided to go a second time (after three days) to find it out.

Update: Most probably the Saro is a Cupressus. So, also a kind of Christmas tree ;)

Anyway: in my first year in Egypt I misst Christmas a lot. I am a totally Christmas woman. Also last year I missed a bit the typical Christmas feeling, even if I backed cookies and celebrate the day itself with friends. But yeah. A Christmas tree is the best way to celebrate Christmas (if he had still his roots).

Anyway ... We have still time ;)

I heard so many Germans are complaining, that during the years the visa for Egypt gets more expensive or that they have to do a bigger effort to get it - but compares to an Egyptian it's actually nothing. I'll explain it in the video :)

A forest in the Desert

A forest in the Desert

Sometimes I miss the forest's of Europe in Egypt. I love the smell, the sound and also the atmosphere. When I cross this little avenue, I get for a moment the feeling I am in a real forest. And its not just me... heard it from others as well ;)

The last days I tried to stay inside as much as possible - or jump into the see. It is just to hot. Over 40°C and this since at least a week. And in Germany right now is a lot of rain an just 20°C. How is that happened? It's late May already. Anyway...I just need to cool me down.

Today we just made some pictures for Instagram and had a lot of fun with it. That's it. Just chatting, walking and knipsing. But with Nada it is really fun and I enjoyed it so much. Good to have friends here.

There is a new place in Dahab - the Waffle House. Directly at the beach is it the best place to hang out.

No more plastic in Dahab!

Sayed and Wael opend a new restaurant in Dahab: A (almost) plastic free restaurant, where you can get some great light food for take away. Or, of you want, you can eat and sit in this beautiful restaurant. Yes, Dahab and Egypt has a problem with rubbish. So, to avoid it, is the best way to do something against it...

Amazing to have this view during the week!

It's Monday morning and I had a walk along the sea. This time it was in Rus Sedr, but I can have it in Dahab as well. Since I moved to Egypt, I see the sea every day ... and it makes me happy!

Are you an early bird? Dahab not!

Are you an early bird? Dahab not!

How does Dahab look at the early morning? Empty. Here is almost nobody. Compares to that the evening hours are really crowded. Then you will hear honking, voices and the noice of life. But the morning hours are really nice. It's not so hot and it's quiet. It's not often that I wake up at that time, and...
